Rescuing Nandi: Healing an Abandoned Calf
"He was found injured on the highway, unable to bear weight. Today he roams the sanctuary grasslands freely."
— Nandi (Gaushala Resident #248)
Late on a rainy August night, our volunteer ambulance received an emergency call regarding an injured 8-month-old bull calf hit by a speeding vehicle near the highway bypass. His hind leg was fractured, and local residents were unable to lift him.
Our veterinary rescue team stabilized the leg on-site and transported him to Shree Kamdhenu Gaushala. After orthopaedic splinting, antiseptic dressings, and continuous nursing care by our dedicated caretakers, Nandi made a complete recovery over ten weeks.
He now lives peacefully alongside 500 other protected cattle, with guaranteed green fodder and shelter for life.
